Uluru January 27-30, 2024
It was about a 3 hour flight, it was 40 degrees (105F) when we landed. Basically, this place is middle earth. Terribly hot but it was a dry heat so a little more bearable than the hot and humid heat we get on Central Coast. And we did visit in the heat of the summer, was wondering why the prices were so good.
We only stayed two nights, for good reason. On the first night we had an astronomy tour of the stars outside of the village. It was cool to see the constellations in the telescopes. If the moon wasn't full we would have seen more.
In the early morning we set off for a sunrise Segway tour. We toured around Uluru with a guide and a few others. That was excellent. Best to book tours sunrise and sunset. The heat of the day, you just want to be indoors or by the hotel pool.
The village was very small. It's called Ayers Rock Resort. They had an IGA, Post and some variety shops. Restaurants were good.
It's one of those places you visit once but glad you did.
